The Retina
The fly has 13,580 tiny motion detectors that work with no training. Take that part of the brain out, feed it video, and use it as a motion sensor.
What it claims
The fly's motion circuit computes usable optical flow on real video.
Learning
No training. The wiring has to do it on its own.
Parts of the brain used
- Eyes
- Lamina
- Motion cells
Not built yet
The brain and the simulator behind The Room already work. This experiment needs its own world and its own test. The code is open if you want to build it.
