The Smell
Real flies find fruit by zig-zagging across a plume of scent. The whole smell system is wired here, so the search strategy should appear on its own.
What it claims
The smell circuits produce zig-zag plume tracking without a programmed search.
Learning
No training. The wiring has to do it on its own.
Parts of the brain used
- Smell receptors
- Antennal lobe
- Lateral horn
Not built yet
The brain and the simulator behind The Room already work. This experiment needs its own world and its own test. The code is open if you want to build it.
