The Compass
The fly has a ring of 46 cells that carries one bump of activity pointing the way it faces. Turn the world and the bump follows. Turn off the lights and it keeps going on its own.
What it claims
The compass ring holds one stable bump and tracks turning without any visual input.
Learning
No training. The wiring has to do it on its own.
Parts of the brain used
- Compass ring
- Turn cells
Not built yet
The brain and the simulator behind The Room already work. This experiment needs its own world and its own test. The code is open if you want to build it.
